Photo of Joe Stewart, Location: Lapeer County, Michigan Date: Saturday, June 11, 2011 Night Vigil at Alleged Bigfoot Hotspot Mark and I went back to Lapeer Saturday night. We hooked up at 7:30 pm at the McDonald's in Lapeer before going into the field. This time we entered from the back way to the pond. The swamp was a bit overflowing making for a wet sloppy walk in the beginning until we reached a meadow. Once we were in the woods we found more structures on either side of the trail. Branches of trees were thrust into live trees at all kinds of angles. I did not at this time take any pictures thinking I would take some pictures at a later date by daylight. It was approaching dusk and the shadows were getting long and we still had a hike to the pond.
We continued on and found a rock embedded in the ground on the trail with long scratched lines on its surface. We found a rock like this on a trail to the pond from the other end of the reserve. I didn't photograph it because it was wet and the lines wouldn't show up well on camera.
We found what looked like a trail but not a game trail. You could see where the vegetation was trampled down. As we look for tracks I found another rock embedded into the ground on the trail with lines scratched into the surface again. It too was wet and not a good subject for a photo. Not far from there once Mark and I were back on the main trail, Mark found footprints on the wet somewhat muddy trail. They were made by bare feet a little over 12 inches in length.
I tried to photograph the footprints with and without a flash. Find attached pictures where some have contrast adjustment for better viewing, and a photo where I attempt to outline the foot. Another photo I circled the foot area. There were footprints everywhere walking and crossing the trail. We next came to a road block. Two trees uprooted were laid across the trail. Another live tree was pulled over from about 10 feet or more away and was bent and placed under the fallen trees. The effect was that we had a road block that was chest high.
We finally reached our goal of the pond and decided to go to the big rock to setup by the water's edge. Mark had brought some salmon to bait the tepee across from the big rock on the other side of the pond. We were losing light fast as we walked around the pond. Again, we found another structure of large trees tied together this time on our side of the pond (see photo of the structure). We placed our bait and made our way back to our little stakeout site.
Mark fired up his little anti-mosquito device which cleared the area in 15 minutes. We had night vision gear, bionic ear, a night viewing video camera, and a digital recorder. In the beginning just as we were settling in I heard a few large footsteps go through the woods on the other side of the pond. Mark commented that he was hearing movement from over there. I had plans to video tape but my infrared spot stopped working so the camera was pretty much useless. Mark was using the bionic ear and I was scanning with my night scope looking for any movement.
Mark called out he was seeing a pair of green eyes on the ridge across the pond. I tried but was somewhat blind from using the night vision scope. I gave him the scope to see if he could see anymore detail since he knew where to look. It had moved. A little later I heard a whistle when it was approaching 11 pm. It happened 3 times. I told Mark about it but he didn't hear it because he was plugged into the bionic ear and pointing it across the pond.
The moon was out and we could see rain clouds as well as smell the rain. We were also concerned about getting out of there around midnight because of the DNR. We packed up our gear and hiked out. When we finally made it to the meadow it was filled with hundreds of fire flies and lit by the moon peaking out from the clouds. Joe Stewart, The Paranormal Nomad.
