Question:
I keep seeing and hearing about
another UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico when I browse other web
sites. Was there another UFO crash in Roswell in 1949?
Answer:
According to "UFO Crash at
Roswell" by Kevin Randle and Donald Schmitt, A 1948 crash
had been reported near Aztec, New Mexico in Frank Scully's book,
"Behind the Flying Saucers." His sources were Silas
Newton and Leo GeBauer. This event is generally considered to be
a hoax due to the lack of eyewitnesses, physical evidence, and
the fact that that the farmer who owned the land where the crash
allegedly occurred, denied the event ever happened.
Randle and Schmitt go on to state that a 1950 UFO crash did in
fact occur near Del Rio, Texas. According to an unnamed
researcher, there were two dozen military personnel, as well as a
Col. Robert Willingham who were witnesses to the crash site.
I do remember a witness report in one of the many documentaries
I've seen, of a 1948 or 1949 Roswell crash. However, the report was
made many years after the fact, therefore, the reliability of the
witness' memory regarding the specific year had become suspect. I
asked my partner, John Tosti if he remembered anything about a
1948 or 1949 crash at Roswell. He said he believed a documentary
aired on TLC [The Learning Channel] which indicated a
questionable witness report.
